Our own London’s stories
London is a monumental city, an epic space that generates hundreds of thousands of narratives from various perspectives. There is no surprise that Eastern European communities have their own London’s stories. The Polish stories that this site sketches are presenting London as an important landmark for Polish history and cultural memory. |
A tourist, a wonderer or a perspective of a bird?
There are three main ways to portrait city: from the perspective of a tourist who juxtaposes his expectations with reality, from the perspective of a wonderer who has no prior expectations about the spaces he visits and from the perspective of Icarus (or a bird), a all-embracing eye from above… The trails we enumerate in this websites take up different approaches, various jargons and styles to show the dynamism, variety and richness of Polish signs in London. |
Against stereotypes
These stories aim at going beyond cliche portraits of London. They are told here to eliminate the stereotypes and prejudices with which Polish migration may be associated. |
